      Elizabeth Heyert was born in New York. She received a Master's degree from the Royal College of Art in London, where she studied with Bill Brandt. Heyert first gained prominence for her photos of architecture and interiors, which have appeared in numerous magazines and books. Photographer Elizabeth Heyert seeks to explore these complexities of Chinese life her new book, The Outsider, published by Damiani. Heyert’s experience photographing people documenting their environment is a departure from staged portraiture of the Other, which can often impose the cultural tinge of the photographer on the subject.
